Three Finishes, Three Different Effects
The same artwork reads very differently depending on how it sits on the plate, and this is usually the first decision worth making:
- Raised (pop-out) — the logo stands proud of the base. Casts a real shadow, reads well from across a room, and is the closest match to traditional dimensional signage.
- Recessed (imprinted) — the design is pressed into the plate. Quieter and more architectural; the shadow line does the work instead of color contrast.
- Flat — artwork sits flush with the surface. Best when the logo has fine detail or many colors that would be lost in relief.
Sizing and Materials
Panels are built to order at any size from 2.4″ to 12.2″ per side, and larger installations are assembled from multiple panels or individual letters. Everything is fabricated in PLA or PETG — PETG is the better pick for humidity, direct sun, or anywhere the sign might get wiped down regularly, which in South Florida covers most exterior-adjacent installs.
Signs carry two colors as standard and support up to seven, so a multi-color brand mark can be reproduced as genuinely separate pieces of colored material rather than printed onto a surface that can scuff or fade. For logos with gradients or very fine detail, a single-color relief usually reads cleaner than a multi-color separation — the builder lets you choose either.
Mounting
Most lobby installs use one of three approaches: standoff hardware for a floated look with a shadow gap behind the panel, direct adhesive mounting for flush installation on smooth surfaces, or individual letter mounting where each character is positioned separately. Dimensional letters can be supplied with per-letter mounting points, which matters because channel letters print as separate pieces with gaps between glyphs — a single corner mount has nothing to attach to in those gaps.
